I wrote this meditation for myself, inspired by the concept in human psychology called reparenting. May it, too, inspire you to insert your own inner experience and find deep healing for yourself as you practice seeing yourself as you are in this present moment.
There is always a little girl inside of me defending herself—and she is me
Every thought process, every emotion, every action and decision that she makes
She’s in my mind and in my heart, defending herself
Because a lot of the time those choices don’t meet the approval of the so-called “authority figures” in her life
And so as I meet this little girl—daily—I meet her with the Wise Mother archetype, who is me too
The Wise Mother allows the daughter to be defensive, to be exactly who she is
The Wise Mother listens with compassion, listens for understanding the depths within her daughter
The Wise Mother understands what it is like to be misunderstood
And so I practice meeting that little girl with compassion, with wisdom, with unconditional love and nonjudgmental listening, and with Grace
And this is what it is to reparent myself
This is what it is to see that little girl who is still in there, and to hold space for her—to hold compassionate, loving, nonjudgmental space for her
