What does healing mean?
It is a question that has echoed in the chambers of my mind lately. I can share personal experiences of what this healing journey has entailed for me, and I think there is a time and place for that when I share heart to heart with my clients in a session.
Healing has been a major theme in my life since the time I was a kid in church, witnessing, observing as people with all manner of illnesses and situations would respond to the altar call at the end of the service to receive a touch from the Holy Spirit. From the time I was a young child I was taught to value prayer and spiritual connection– I was taught to believe in the existence of God. And while my beliefs and relationship with God has changed over time, what remains is a deep respect for the mystery and power of healing, reordering and realigning us with the will of God for our lives on a personal level and on a collective level.
About 3 years ago, I had a dream that a friend of mine was very sick, and two men brought him to me for healing. When I woke from the dream, I was so deeply impacted by it that I recorded a 10 minute long audio contemplation as I connected myself to the insights I received. I wanted to share a small piece of it here with you too, because I believe it to be a very powerful message:
As I observed myself in a human state of judgment toward these men who brought my friend to me, I realized that healing is not biased. It is exactly what Jesus did. When he walked the earth, he healed ALL people that were brought to him. He didn’t judge their lifestyle, or their choices. He didn’t reject anyone based on their beliefs or social status. He was a radical healer and he showed us that healing is for all. The voice of the human says that people don’t deserve to receive Goodness in their lives if they are not “good.” And that is a judgment because we know nothing about the inner workings of someone. And yes, people behave in ways that don’t serve humanity or themselves as individuals. People behave in ways that cause harm. I have done it. Yes, I, I have done it. But at the depth of all human life is the seed of the Divine, the Diamond Light of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. It’s in ALL of us.
I believe that healing restores our connection with Divine energy, attuning us to the Christ Frequency. Healing reestablishes our connection to the energy of the fruits of the Spirit, a process that takes time. And that connection, somehow, sends a signal to our energy system, telling it to be reordered, to return to balance. This reordering is done in secret, it is the work of Love touching us deeply and affecting us in such an undeniable way.
My spiritual teacher says that “the beginning and ending of everything is love”… Love is this transformational energy within us and all around us, and Love will lead us to wholeness.
I will close out this post with a quote from Cyndi Dale:
What is the true nature of healing? is one of the most important questions we can contemplate as practitioners or self-healers working with subtle energy. In effect, all practitioners, whether their approach is conventional or holistic, are energy healers, and so we must all ask this question at some point. The answer will prove to be our North Star, guiding the way through all kinds of terrain along the healing journey (whether that journey is a one-hour session or a years-long partnership between healer and client).
Understanding and believing in wholeness is a deeply optimistic state, one that we may encounter with our podiatrist or our reflexologist, and one we seek to acknowledge within ourselves. The trust in our natural ability to return to balance just may be the invisible bridge that connects the best of [Western] medicine with the brilliant field of healing that used to be called, not so very long ago, ‘alternative.’”
